Hi All,
I have a problem with my Gallien Krueger bass amp. If the amp sees a spike, eg; ripped out cord, it will shut down for hours. It is designed to shut down until power is switched off then on. I am lost with the circuit. (I'm not sure how to include the schemo with this.) Can anyone shed some light on what component might be at fault? Thanks in advance.

Hi;

What happens if you unplug it and plug it back in after it goes into protect?

I'm not sure how surge protect is dealt with in this amp. I'd have to see the schemo to shed light.

If you have the print, you can snap a pic and post it somewhere and give us the url or attach it to an email.

hi

This problem may occur because the inrush current.
Try to connect a 1 Ohm @10 A thermistor in series to the main switch.
(Part number SL12 1R010 is in Digi-Key stock).
