Default Fun pedals...discuss

My recent realm has been to play around with "fun" pedals, while nothing is more fun than a great OD, I've learned there are others as well:>)

I think we've been covering the vibe/phaser thing well here lately, but what about other stuff?

I have been messing with octave stuff on/off for years. I would use ring mod/pitch shift for Hendrix-like stuff on occasion, but no pedal has ever lasted too long. I think it comes down to actual useage, board space, and becoming bored.

I picked up the Boss SUper Octave, but think I'll return it for something bigger and better. Maybe the Mini Pog, maybe just go with RP500 for pitch shift, plus it has the Whammy in it, but I'd never use it live. Or go with separate units, so many options. The Expression factory looks fun as well.

So for me, something like the mini POG and maybe use it live, or something with all effects tangled up in a one unit?

I recall having an old MXR blue box, now that pedal was fun! Never used it, but it was cool to have once in awhile.

JB, I currently use an Octron II - really fun octave up/down pedal - for making different sounds.

I find the Eventide Timefactor an incredibly fun and flexible tool, for all kind of delay and time-based effects (The new update has some great phaser-like and flanger-like sounds, plus some mind-boggling filtered, band and reverse delays). I Imagine their Pitchfactor and Modfactor will be equally fun.

My main fun thing lately has been a Roland GR20. Many sounds and many ways of using it but it is very enjoyable to become Jon Lord one minute then have a 12-string patch, then a sitar then mix in some heavy power chording, etc.

I'm toggling between the TC Nova System and the Eventide Modfactor for my next biggish gear purchase; both should be tons of fun. If the ODs on the Nova System are any good, I might even try a gig or two without any other pedals. The Modfactor would mostly be for at-home fun, but you never know--if I got comfortable with it, it could be great for texturing my rhythm playing live.

The POG 2 is a great pedal and worth the extra $$ over the Micro POG for the presets alone but add the Attack and Detune faders and it is a no brainer.

If your looking for cool and new sounds I think the EH stuff is the place to look. EH is kicking everyone's ass in the "new and cool" department.

Blue Box is cool...
I've got a wierd Danelectro Chillidog octave pedal ....it's pink, it pretty nasty in fun way...1&2 octave down ...get real synth-y especially mixed with a phaser or flange...
I'd love to play with some of the wackier Zvex effects- seekwah, ringtone, etc...seems like fun to be had there...

Brought home the Whammy. I tried one a few years back in my tone snob days and never gave it a chance, as it does suck some tone and the pitch stuff isn't as good as others (the OC3 I returned for instance).
This time around...what fun! Within about 30 mins of running through it I've found 3-5 useable presets I think I can incoporate into my actual rig maybe. THing I am liking about it (honeymoon) is that it makes you think creatively. Lots of weird options to mess with.
Now I begin looking for TB switch for it.

Hey, bandofthieves--how do you like your Vox Tonelab? I'm pondering the SE, at the moment.
