Default Speaking of Fuzz and Gibbons, anyone still using their Soiled Dove?

Fleabiscuit's Fuzz thread mentioned fuzz and Billy G. My first thought was Soiled Dove. I don't have one of SP Dave's, though I got to play one in one of the tourboxes. However, I built one with Dave's blessing and instructions. The first pedal I ever built from the ground up using only a schematic. I made some modifications to mine.

I pulled it out recently and have been messing with some different transistors and collector resistor values. I forgot how fun this pedal is. Anyone still using theirs?

Is it a difficult project? I've never built anything...I once got incredibly drunk at a bar called the soiled dove in Denver...

Not really. Just two transistors, three pots, four resistors, five caps and some diodes. I've got a couple of switches on mine because I was experimenting with different diode configurations vs. no diodes and different cap values.

Thanks for the mention. Actually I haven't played mine recently. While I was driving for Greyhound I sorta got out of building pedals, due to a busy schedule. Maybe I need to get back into it again. If interest is there, I'd be happy to build some more Doves.

It's definitely a fun pedal. I was really liking the sound, but the output seemed lower than I remembered. I found a wire that had come loose and was touching ground and I had wired the output pot wrong. I've put the wire back in the right place and wired the output pot correctly. Now I'll have to get a chance to play it and see if I like it better, or if the loose wire caused a happy accident.

There probably weren't many of these made. Too bad. I guess those that had them have moved on like I did. But, this is one I keep coming back to.
