Default Something new (yawn)

I recently bought Steven Slate Drums EX (a steal at audiomidi.com for 20 bucks!) and loved the sound of the 'Old Zep' kit so much, that I threw this together. I also wasn't in the mood to try getting the sounds I was looking for by using an amp, so I mucked around until I found some things that I liked w/ Amplitube and Guitar Rig. Of course they don't sound as 'good' as a real amp, but for a quick sketch like this, they worked just fine.

Anyhow, here it is:

Fantastic, I love it, all around great tones and feel.

The drums sound like they were played live to me.

Thanks, Paulie

The Slate drums come w/ midi files (verse, chorus, fills) that were played by a couple of big name session players. So, it was easy as could be to simply throw in different parts and make it sound 'real', because essentially those parts were all played live and then chopped into various files.

The Steven Slate Drums come with midi files- essentially, 2 studio guys sat down and played a dozen songs or so in various styles. I'm not entirely sure how they convert them, but I'm guessing they must have midi triggers attached to all of the various drums, and that turns it into a file that is nothing more than notes that tell a midi controller what note, pitch, velocity, etc. That's my best guess- I'm no expert.

So, when you open a folder full of midi files (in this case, it was called something like, 'A Perfect Circle 130bpm 6/8), it contains all sorts of patterns for verses, choruses, and fills. It's just a matter of saying, 'Hey, fill number 3 would sound good right here', and putting it in the midi 'lane' where I've assigned the Slate drums. It's gotta be pretty easy, because I was able to figure it out :P

Ok- I just finished a long spacey thing, I'll post that, too.
