Default Going to see Elton John

Unlikely, but he is coming to Toledo in April, new arena and he hasn't been in Toledo for many, many years. We knew it would sell out quickly so I didn't really think twice when my wife said she'd like to go. Low and behold, her concert hound brother scored us tickets.
First of all, geesh, $100 a pop, this blows my mind.
I do like EJ and many of his tunes, imagine this will be a once in lifetime thing for me/us, so I'm looing forward to going at this point.
But, I'd rather see Crowes, Mule, or such:>)

I got to see Elton John once way back in the mid 80's and thought he was great, I liked a lot of his tunes and he has plenty of them I think you will enjoy the show!

I saw Elton John with Billy Joel at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in ~1998. John Jorgenson was playing with EJ at the time and played some tasty solos. Davey did some cool stuff too, and the rhythm section was killer.

But the thing that has forever stayed with me after this gig was the awesome, jaw-dropping piano chops that both these guys possess! I know....good one Captain Obvious!! But to witness two of the most talented singer/songwriters in the history of humans strut their stuff was nothing short of mind-blowing.

So whilst you probably won't get the typical guitarist's trip from the gig, I'm sure Elton's monstrous talent & stagecraft will more than compensate. Sure...he talks the talk...but man can he walk the walk!!

Hope the gig goes off like a frog in a sock!!

He may have had a trainwreck of a personal life at times, but Elton on stage is the real deal. I saw him back in the day, '75 or '76, and it was completely, totally, phenomenal. I also remember driving home very late one night from a gig, and the radio was playing a live Elton show - no idea which one - and he was absolutely shredding on the piano. It blew my mind how truly great he is as a player.
I think you made the right decision.

Yes, I am looking forward to it, just been awhile since I've been to a hard rockin concert, so Elton threw me back a wee.
