Well yeah but they've been doing an SG with p90's for a long time.

Townshend used one a lot. An SG 'special' with a full pickguard.

Exactly my point, Ken... back to basics. Would you rather have one of these? http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Elec...irebird-X.aspx

MAP on the SG is $799, LP $849. Classic style Gibbys under a grand? I'll bite (buy).

P.S. I never did like the "Special Faded" models finish, so these are an improvement there IMO.

Lol! Amazing how fast the 'failbird' dropped out of sight.

Didn't Henry Juszkiewicz smash an Epi SG in the 'launch' of the firebird X?
Looks like a real SG is the real Phoenix.

I'm digging both of them...The natural finishes are killer as is the honey on the LP and the red on the Sg.

I didn't know the 60's LPs had chambered bodies. Or is that feature not true to the original?

Those are some fine gitters for the money.
I guess they pulled their heads out of their you-know-whats and said we need to do what we do right and make it work for this economy.

Well, GAS got to me. I pulled the trigger on the white SG. I'll report back when it arrives.

I never really had a problem with Gibson trying new designs, even the ones that were questionable, at least they were trying new things. My biggest problem is their pricing and how they run their biz, I still don't understand why they screwed over and eliminated so many dealers. Well I guess I kinda understand, money!! The big stores shelled out a lot of coin to get those but in the long run I don't see it being the best thing for their biz.

These new ones seem like a step in the right direction if the quality is good.
